Did you know that Finnish has a lovely way to blame innocent objects for one's own mistakes? Here's how it's done:

Use jäädä instead of jättää:
- Blame yourself: Mä jätin mun pefletin uimahalliin. - I left my butt towel in the swimming hall.
- Blame the object: Mun pefletti jäi uimahalliin. - My butt towel forgot itself in the swimming hall.
Use unohtua instead of unohtaa:
- Blame yourself: Mä unohdin mun lompakon kotiin. - I forgot my wallet at home.
- Blame the object: Mun lompakko unohtui kotiin. - My wallet forgot itself at home.
Pefletti voi olla polyeteeniä, mutta itse pidän enemmän kankaisista pefleteistä eli pikkupyyhkeistä, koska ne voi pestä pesukoneessa. |
